The Lancaster Tax Office is diligent in providing excellent customer service to the citizens of Lancaster. As COVID-19 is rapidly spreading through our state, we have decided that it is in the best interest of the health of the public and our staff to suspend all in-person tax assistance until further notice.

 

Walk-in tax services are being suspended effective Tuesday, March 17, 2020.

 

In order to continue to service the community, we are offering drop-off tax preparation. Taxpayers may drop off copies of their tax documents in our drop box. Our auditors will then prepare their return and contact them with the results. We will also send copies of the prepared return to the taxpayers for their records.

 

The secure drop box is available outside of the Municipal Building at 104 E Broad Street, on the Broad Street side where you can also leave Utilities payments. You may also send copies of your records by mail.

 

We will also be available by email at taxrequest@ci.lancaster.oh.us or by phone at 740-687- 6606. The City’s webpage at https://www.ci.lancaster.oh.us/191/Income-Tax  will have updates on the Tax Page. Our staff will be available by phone or email during our normal business hours of 8:00 to 4:30, Monday through Friday.

*Notice*

As of 03/12/2020 the Online Tax Tool for e-filing is available for individual filers. You will need your Lancaster City tax account number to create your WEB Login. You can call our office at 740-687-6606 to verify your account number or request an account number for new tax filers.

Beginning 01/01/2020 Tax Preparers will not be able to electronically file the Lancaster City Income Tax Return.



Withholding payments can be mailed, submitted through GOVPAYNET with a credit card or use the Ohio Business Gateway.

The City of Lancaster will now accept electronic filing of year-end W-2 and reconciliation information. Employer must use the SSA format that includes local tax information.
